TUNING AND SERVICE

Every musician sounds better when the musical instrument they play sounds its best. Making sure that your pipe organ is in tune and functioning well is a high priority for Bogue Services.

We put our clients on regular tuning schedules based on seasonal temperature changes - the number one culprit of tuning issues with pipe organs. We schedule our clients on routes to allow us to offer predictable flat-rate tunings at reasonable prices, so as to avoid making our clients have to choose to sacrifice upkeep of their instruments. We specifically avoid variable rate tunings, as such a pricing structure encourages slower tunings which generally result in less optimal outcomes, and oftentimes results in clients paying higher costs for less-experienced technicians.

Beyond regular tunings, we also keep track of the overall health of your instrument, including making sure that the organ's blower(s) are properly lubricated, noting developing mechanical issues early enough to allow our clients to plan for future maintenance, and even keeping tabs on the overall environment surrounding the instrument, such as excessive climate control issues, leaking roofs in organ chambers, or excessive dust, debris or pest infestations that could harm an instrument or the client's building.

EMERGENCY SERVICE

Bogue Services strives to respond to emergency service requests in under 24 hours, as we know how important your instrument is to your music programs. We offer a variety of methods to communicate your service request, whether it be by telephone, email, or web form. We also make sure to document service issues both for our own records and for the clients records as well.

Like tunings, our base rate for an emergency service call is a flat rate for the first hour on the job, with a variable rate applying to every quarter hour on site, after the first hour. Travel expenses are also included in the flat base rate, so a client will never be surprised with a large additional charge. Plus, if we ever feel that an emergency service call will take more than two hours to complete, we require verbal authorization before proceeding further. We do not want churches to avoid having their instruments properly serviced simply due to fear of the unknown costs associated with emergency care.

LONG-TERM MAINTENANCE, REBUILDS, AND NEW INSTRUMENTS

A pipe organ is one of the most complex music instruments around, involving many moving parts that can wear over time. Beyond regular tunings and emergency service for simple things like ciphers (pipes that stick on when they should not), dead stops, and other minor mechanical problems, pipe organs will inevitably need additional long-term care.

Bogue Services has chosen to take a more-broad approach to providing this care, offering a variety of competitively-priced services including but not limited to:

-
Reservoir and Wind Chest Releathering
-
Pipe Organ Cleaning and Voicing
-
Rebuild-Replace Shade Motors & Other Mechanical Equipment

ABOUT AARON BOGUE

Founder and chief technician, Aaron Bogue, has been around pipe organs since he was a child. At the age of 14, Aaron began holding keys and helping his father, Daniel Bogue, who was then the Director of Sales and Service for the Wicks Organ Company for Northern Illinois, Northwest Indiana, and Eastern Iowa. Aaron took part in many projects, including new organ installations, pipe organ rebuilds, and general service and maintenance. By the age of 18, Aaron had been trained to tune pipe organs and had spent most of his summers tuning instruments throughout his father's sales and service territory.

Over the last three decades, Aaron's experience in pipe organ service and tuning has evolved through working for his father's company, running his own pipe organ building company, and working for other pipe organ firms. Today, Aaron is dedicated to offering his customers exceptional service and connecting them with the right pipe organ solutions that best serve their specific needs and budgets.

ABOUT CHESTON BOGUE

Secondary chief technician, Cheston Bogue, has also grown-up in the pipe organ industry, assisting his father with various organ projects, including assisting in new organ installations. Cheston had formally joined Bogue Services in the Summer of 2023, where he currently serves as an exceptional tuner, voicer, and technician.

Cheston brings a wealth of knowledge to the organization as an accomplished pianist. He is currently working on expanding his talents to the pipe organ and is also an accompanist for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Darien, Illinois.

In addition, when Cheston is not playing music or rebuilding and servicing pipe organs, he enjoys outdoor adventures, especially mountain biking in some of the country's most beautiful places.
